Task 1a: Professional profile

When I originally created my professional profile I wrote my C.V. off the top of my head not realising it was an important aspect to my blog and how I represent myself. With this in mind I have done some research looking at other BAPP students blogs and how they have written their professional profile. I have gained lots of ideas and really want to try and rewrite my profile to include my teaching experience. I find this difficult when producing a C.V. as I normally do a Performing C.V. and a Teaching/work C.V. However, after my BAPP course I would like to persue a career into teaching, for this I need to find away to combine the two of my C.V's as I feel my performing experience makes me stand out from other candidates for a PGCE course. I'm struggling to upload my C.V's to google.doc keeping them in the original format, can anyone help me please?  As I would love people's advise how to improve and make my C.V. better. Completing these tasks my I.T skills are improving but I feel I have lots more to learn.

  1. Hey
I have just read your profile/CV and I think it's really good and very thorough and you know what? I really should put in my teaching experience too. I have literally done what you initially did with just the performing stuff. So thank you for that. I am also hoping to go on and do my PGCE.
Great profile and look forward to more blogs.

  2. Hey Natalie,
I've really enjoy reading all your posts!
Unfortunately I'm not so great with technology so not sure how to be able to see your CV? Found it interesting to hear you say you wrote your CV off the top of your head though. I pretty much did the same and now after looking through it in more detail feel mine it too factual and personal touch is important.

  3. Hi Natalie,

Like yourself i have two CVs, a 'Work CV' and then a 'Performing CV' this has made me want to go back and look at my 'Work CV' and make sure i've included everything, i know i have written about some of my performance work i have done, but like you said it will make us stand out, so i think i better go through it and see what i can improve!

However i must admit I'm slightly confused why people are posting there CVs in their blogs as i thought that for the task we were meant to Re Write it to create our 'about me' section. Can anyone help with this?

  4. Hi, Thanks for all your comments. It's good to hear other people in my situation about having two C.V's. Heather I'm a little confused why people have posted their C.V's as well, as I thought we had to use our C.v. to create our 'about me' section and to better it. Having seen people upload C.v.'s its made me question if I need to upload it or not. I thought I would use it as an exercise and get people's opinions and constructive critism how to improve my C.V.'s or ways in which to combine them. Im still struggle to find time to do this due to work commitments. I'm putting time aside this weekend to complete more tasks and crack on with Reader 1. Thanks for all your comments it really helps.

  5. Hi Natalie,

excellent job. The fact that you posts a lot and comment a lot have meant that more people are coming to your Blog than more or less any others. This means you can use the feedback to improve your work and thinking.

You have clearly tackled the tasks and you are thinking things through carefully.
Keep a focus on your own developing critical skills. Keep posing questions, even when you think you have done well. The tasks are not output in themselves … we are using them as experiences upon which you can reflect to draw out deeper insights into your practices.

Keep going, you are rapidly becoming someone to follow! As you move onto Part 2, I think the tools we are offering there will help you enormously.

Oh just one small detail. Your Youtube video includes young people singing, great, but what permissions do you have? DO ensure you have consent, in this instance from parents, to post images or video of their children. The school might already have a blanket consent form.

    Well done.

  6. Thank you for your advice Alan. I will inquire about publishing the video of my pupils, I will check the parents have signed a consent form on registration to the school allowing their child to be photographed for promotional purposes. If they haven't I will have to remove the video until I get written consent. The school uploaded it on their social network page so I presumed they had permission but it's made me question and think about the way I approach ethical matters. Lesson learnt...don't presume always check and confirm! I will look into this asap!
